SEPTEMBER NEWS!!

Lethal Injection re-introduced (Two Executed)

Greetings Readers,

I trust you are all well.

Live for the moment my friends, live now, for none of us know just how much time we have. So make the very most of it. Count yourselves lucky and enjoy life NOW!

If you’re wondering what brought that on, life can end so abruptly and unexpectedly, and you just never know.

A recent letter from a very good friend and fellow Brit Scott Hurford still imprisoned at my former home Bangkwang Prison Thailand.

Terrible shocking news! Bangkwang Prison is the only Prison where Executions were carried out in Thailand and since 2002 this practice ceased.

Without warning on August 25th of last month 2 alleged drug traffickers were taken from death row within Bangkwang Prison and executed by Lethal Injection.

I say alleged as I personally don’t know of their guilt, as many innocent people remain imprisoned in Thailand and many more are mere pawns.

I can imagine the terrible feeling within Bangkwang Prison right now.

Personally if pushed to whether I am for or against the death Penalty, I would have to say I am against it. Certainly no drug conviction warrants Execution. Although certain acts of Terrorism and Murder might, if the certainty of guilt were 100%. But how to guarantee that?

NO! I would have to say I am against it.

The feeling among the 1,000 or so prisoners on death row within Bangkwangs walls right now is un-imaginable, fear and terror that is inhumane to force any person to live under that un-certainty of when your time will come.

Click on the article Titled:-“The Last Executioner”, Missing the Target on the Home Page of this web-site for a interview with a prisoner who spent     5 ½ years on death row in Bangkwang Prison  Thailand.

The whole article is a fascinating read and living proof that having the death penalty is not a deterrent to criminals.

The article depicts the true account of a Bangkwang Prison officer turned drug trafficker who was himself “The Executioner” executing 6 prisoners in Bangkwang Prison during 1999, he now languishes on death row himself, sentenced for drug trafficking. Kharma?

I don’t want to dwell on the topic of the death penalty just to draw your attention to this extraordinary astonishing true account.

I am so sadden to see Thailand re-introduce this practice of execution.

My heart and prayers go out to all prisoners held in Thailand, my own memories of my time there are all so vivid still now, almost 2 years since I left.

My friend Scot twill soon be transferring back to the UK to serve out his sentence here as I am in a UK prison.

Any news here seems irrelevant and insignificant in comparison to the above.

Still no news from the House of Lords as to whether my appeal there will be granted for a full hearing or not.

Two favorable articles about me appeared this month in the Sunday Mercury, many thanks to the reporter Ben Goldby and my Lawyer Carla Riozzi of Moss Solicitors Loughborough, Leicestershire.

Readers:-

Thank you all for your support over the years spare a thought for all those prisoners imprisoned overseas so far from home, and if you want to write to prisoners or help in any way click onto “Prisoners seeking contact” on the Home Page of this site or the link to Foreign Prisoners Support Service” website.

                       See you all next month

                                                     Best wishes

                                                                      Steve Willcox
